Sustainability at Mantra Melbourne Airport

At Mantra Melbourne Airport we are committed to embedding sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations, ensuring that every stay with us is not only comfortable but also responsible. In 2023, we proudly launched and implemented a series of initiatives to minimize our environmental impact and preserve our planet's beauty for generations to come as outlined below.

Dry Amenities

In 2023, we made a pledge to eliminate single-use plastics from our hotel. This entailed a comprehensive assessment of our amenities and the implementation of sustainable alternatives, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment. Continuing this initiative, we've made substantial strides towards establishing a plastic-free environment by ceasing the use of single-use dry amenities, we've eliminated items such as toothbrushes, combs, shower caps, Slippers from the room significantly reducing our environmental impact. Instead, guests can conveniently request dry amenities through room service or by reaching out to our hospitable team at reception.

Large Amenities

Continuing our commitment to sustainability, we've made a proactive choice to transition to large-format amenities in our hotel. This means replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers. Our Apples amenities are now available in convenient, eco-friendly pump dispensers, offering our guests the luxurious experience they expect while reducing environmental impact. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we're significantly decreasing waste in our operations. This decision reflects our dedication to environmental stewardship and our ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability throughout our hotel, while continuing to deliver the utmost in luxury and comfort.

Recycling

At Mantra Melbourne Airport, we're dedicated to responsible waste management practices, ensuring that all hotel waste is sorted into co-mingled, cardboard, and general waste categories to minimize our impact on landfills. Moreover, we're actively pursuing initiatives to conserve water and transition to a circular system.

  • We've replaced single-use plastic water bottles with eco-friendly alternatives and introduced water stations in the conference rooms and lobby areas.
  • Eco-friendly shower are currently being installed in all guest rooms to promote water conservation.
  • We proudly support Waste Ninja, a local food waste management company that shares our commitment to environmental preservation.

At Mantra Melbourne Airport, we believe in the power of collective action to shape a sustainable future. Together, we can make a meaningful difference by reducing our carbon footprint.

Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible. We have partnered with many local businesses throughout the hotel to ensure we are giving back to our local community and supporting local economy.

We are proud to be a Sustainable Tourism Certified hotel with Ecotourism Australia. The Sustainable Tourism Certification program assesses our environmental, socio-economic, cultural and responsible management principles to ensure we are minimising our negative impacts and maximising benefits for the environment, communities and culture. This achievement reinforces our ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable hospitality and creating positive impacts for our team, guests, local community and planet.
